Basis unserer Aktivitäten in Ostafrika

Mit unserem Partner „Support for Women in Agriculture and Environment“ (SWAGEN) abreiten wir an der Umsetzung von Projekten in der Land- und Forstwirtschaft, im Klimaschutz sowie im sozialen Bereich. Neben den Aktivitäten in Uganda sollen auch die Nachbarländer wie z.B. Kenia einbezogen werden.

Waisenhaus – HILFERUF – Corona Krise

SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO SURVIVE CORONA VIRUS

Uganda is a land locked country located in East Africa. It borders with South Sudan in the North, DRC in the West, Kenya in the East, Rwanda in the South West, and Tanzania in the South. It is just recovering from a 20 Year armed conflict in the North and North East of the country and during the period spanning 1985 – 2020 was the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. As a result, it has a high number of orphans and child headed households who are vulnerable. The girl child orphans are particularly ending up as teenage single mothers, or sometimes pushed into early marriages. Unable to care for their children the incidence of infant damping either on roadsides, garbage heaps or even pit latrines is very high. Support for women in Agriculture and Environment responded to this need by opening a home for abandoned children. The organization now has 20 children all together ranging in age from 1 month to 3 years. Working with the Police, SWAGEN is attempting to locate their relatives in vain. SWAGEN works with a local Church to take care of the children’s food, sanitary, medical care, clothing needs. The Church fundraises from the congregation and SWAGEN renders the hands-on care. In the face of the raging Corona Virus, the Church has closed for a month. The public transport system has been ordered to stop operating. Price of commodities are rising. Children are at risk of falling sick and not having access to a medical facility. The dry food rations and essential supplies of the children are declining and SWAGEN is asking for support.

To provide the children with the much needed food security and nutrition

Durch das Einschränken zur Eindämmung des Corona Virus werden schon heute die sozial schwachen in Afrika sehr hart getroffen. Das gilt für Waisenkinder, Tagelöhner, Schwanger und diskriminierte Menschen in gleicher Weise.

Unsere befreundete Organisation „SWAGEN“ in Uganda betreut in einem Waisenheim ca. 20 Kinder. Die laufende Unterstützung durch die regionale Kirche ruht aktuell, da die Kirche für mindestens einen Monat geschlossen wurde. Auch andere Unterstützungen sind durch die Mobilitätseinschränkungen weggebrochen.

Daher hat uns SWAGEN geschrieben und bittet um finanzielle Mittel für den Kauf von Desinfektions- und Hygieneartikel, Nahrung. Die Elektrifizierung des Waisenheims mit einer PV Anlage würde den Betrieb deutlich verbessern und das Leben der Waisen possitiver gestalten.
